Back to GatewayAs the culmination of a rigorous two-year academic journey, these exams reflect not only subject mastery, but also the critical thinking, independence, and intellectual curiosity that define the IB experience. With a long-standing tradition of strong results and academic excellence, our students approach this period with focus, resilience, and a deep sense of accomplishment.

The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is widely recognized as one of the most demanding and well-rounded pre-university curricula in the world. At St. Stephen’s, our students consistently rise to meet that challenge, achieving an average score of 36 points, well above the global average. This reflects not only academic strength, but also the supportive environment and high expectations that shape the student experience.

What sets the IB apart is not simply its rigor, but its philosophy. Through a balance of Higher and Standard Level courses, the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge, and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS), students are asked to go beyond memorization. They learn to question, to analyze, to write with clarity, and to engage meaningfully with the world around them. The result is a student who is not only prepared for university, but equipped to thrive within it.

Current students often speak about the challenge—and the growth—that comes with the programme. As one senior reflects, “The IB pushes you in ways you don’t expect. It’s not just about getting through the material, but about learning how to think, how to manage your time, and how to keep going even when it feels overwhelming.”
The long-term impact becomes even clearer after graduation. One St. Stephen’s alumna, now enrolled in an honors program at university, shared: “The IB courses I took were some of the most difficult classes I had ever taken, but now that I am at university, I have excellent study habits. I know how to study and pace myself, and I am ahead of 90% of my class.”
These experiences reflect what we see year after year: students leaving St. Stephen’s not only with strong academic results, but with confidence, discipline, and a clear sense of how to navigate complex challenges. As exams continue, we recognize the dedication it has taken to reach this point—and we celebrate the readiness of our students to take their next steps with purpose and assurance.
