Community Gateway
Back to GatewayEach year, as the holiday season draws near, our boarding community gathers for one of St. Stephen’s most cherished traditions: the Boarding Holiday Dinner. More than just a festive meal, this evening stands as a heartfelt celebration of togetherness, reflection, and the unique bonds that form within our boarding family. For students who live far from home—many traveling across countries and continents to study at St. Stephen’s—this event offers a moment of warmth and belonging during a time that can otherwise feel lonely or distant.

The dinner is an opportunity for our boarders to pause from the pace of school life, share a beautifully prepared meal, and enjoy the comfort of being surrounded by peers, mentors, and staff who support them daily. Laughter, conversation, and the exchange of traditions from around the world create an atmosphere that is both festive and deeply meaningful. It is a reminder that while our students come from diverse backgrounds, they build a shared home here—one rooted in respect, care, and community.

This tradition also highlights the spirit of collaboration that defines our school. We extend our warmest thanks to the many day parents who generously contribute to making the evening special. Whether by preparing homemade dishes, donating treats, or simply offering their time and enthusiasm, their involvement adds an invaluable layer of warmth to the celebration. Their kindness ensures that every boarder feels supported, appreciated, and connected, even when they are far from their own families.

The Boarding Holiday Dinner is more than an event; it is a testament to the strength of the St. Stephen’s community. Each year, it reminds us that meaningful traditions help shape our students’ experience, providing comfort, connection, and memories that last long beyond their time at school.
