Back to GatewayFacing strong competition in the NISSA league, both teams recorded impressive victories and demonstrated resilience, teamwork, and growth early in the season.

The boys opened the tournament with a challenging Friday matchup against AOSR. Although the result did not go their way, the team showed determination and returned to the court Saturday morning ready to compete. In a thrilling game against the British School of Milan, the SSS boys found themselves trailing by eight points at halftime. What followed was an extraordinary second-half comeback. With disciplined defense and composed offensive play, the Saints surged ahead to secure a six-point victory.
That win advanced them to the third-place game against the International School of Milan. In a tightly contested match defined by defensive intensity, SSS came up just one point short, ultimately finishing in fourth place. Despite the narrow loss, the performance reflected the team’s grit and growing cohesion.

The girls’ team also faced a tough start on Friday against AOSR. Rather than allowing the early setback to define their weekend, the team regrouped and returned on Saturday with renewed focus and energy.
Led by senior captain Ginevra, the Saints delivered an outstanding performance against TASIS. With strong leadership, disciplined play, and collective determination, the team earned a decisive victory and secured the third-place trophy—an impressive accomplishment and a testament to their resilience.
Both teams left the tournament stronger, having gained valuable experience against high-level competition. The early-season challenges and successes have set a strong foundation for what promises to be an exciting year.
Next up are the ISSA tournaments in March. The boys will travel to Scotland from March 4–8, while the girls will compete in a major tournament hosted by St. Stephen’s here in Rome at the Tellene Sports Center from March 5–7.
The season is just getting started—and the Saints are ready.
