Aventinus Minor Project
Archaeological Exhibition by Grade 9 Students

On Tuesday, 27th May, from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m., the Grade 9 students will host the Aventinus Minor Project. Archaeological Exhibition in the Cortile and room L-12.

The Aventinus Minor Project (AMP) is a collaboration between St. Stephen’s School and the American University of Rome (AUR). After three excavation seasons (2022-2024) on the grounds of the Istituto Santa Margherita right behind our school, this year is dedicated to studying the artifacts and sharing the research with a wider audience.

The materials include coins, hairpins, oil lamps, pottery fragments, fibulas, a cameo, a glass ring. All Grade 9 students prepared for the exhibition in their City of Rome 1 classes with the help of their teachers, AUR professors, and a few of our juniors.

In small groups, the students did research on an artifact, created digital 3-D models of the artifacts, and prepared information panels and object labels.

They created both a virtual and a physical exhibition. The students are looking forward to sharing their knowledge about these unique archaeological finds with you on Tuesday, 27th May, so please mark your calendar!

Light refreshments will be provided. The exhibition is followed by the St. Stephen's Summer Concert at 5:00 p.m. in the Auditorium, which will also be the location of a photo exhibition of the “Rome Beyond Rome” trips to Roman Algeria offered by the Lyceum this past October/November.
