Community Gateway
Back to GatewayWith a Friend of St. Stephen’s involved in the production, we are delighted to share this opportunity with our school community and encourage families, students, faculty, staff, and friends to experience a lively theatrical performance in English.

Founded in 2005 by its Artistic Director, Ailleen C. Moir, Arts in English has spent more than two decades bringing high-quality, semi-professional theatrical productions to English-speaking audiences in Rome. Established with the aim of introducing British and American musical theater to the city's international community, the company has staged an impressive repertoire of beloved musicals, including Cabaret, Mamma Mia!, Oliver!, My Fair Lady, and Grease, among many others.
In 2025, Arts in English celebrated its 20th anniversary with Night & Day, a special production inspired by the life and music of legendary American composer Cole Porter.
Over the years, the company has also developed strong connections with Rome's international schools. Students and families have regularly attended its performances, while young performers from several international schools have had the opportunity to take part in productions themselves, a tradition that continues today.
This October, Arts in English returns to the stage with a musical adaptation of one of William Shakespeare's most beloved comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Audiences will be transported into an enchanting world of love, mistaken identities, mischievous fairies, and unexpected encounters. With memorable music, fabulous costumes, and plenty of humor, this imaginative production promises to bring Shakespeare's timeless comedy to life in a fresh and entertaining way.
The production will take place at Piccolo Teatro San Paolo, located at Via Ostiense 190 in Rome, with three performances scheduled:
At St. Stephen’s, we value opportunities to celebrate the creative endeavors of those connected to our school while sharing the rich cultural life of Rome with our wider community. Initiatives such as Arts in English also highlight the important role of the performing arts in bringing people together, encouraging creativity, and offering young people opportunities to experience theater both as audience members and performers.
Whether you are a longtime Shakespeare enthusiast or simply looking for an enjoyable evening at the theater, A Midsummer Night’s Dream – The Musical promises a delightful celebration of music, storytelling, and the magic of live performance.
