The Down's Syndrome Theatre thrives as a small yet active company of actors with an interesting twist! We prepare a show for the end of the year, not really to entertain the public with a perfect performance, but rather to provide our friends afflicted with Down's Syndrome with an afternoon of fun and entertainment once a week, every Wednesday from 3,45 to 5,30, throughout the school year. All the members of the group have a keen interest in helping and interacting with others who are different from themselves, and we greatly enjoy the time we spend together.
Last year, our show was "Il Fantasma del Palco Igienico", a parody on "The Phantom of the Opera". Throughout the year, we worked hard on preparing our play (especially memorizing our scripts and trying to find suitable costumes), and we were exhilarated to share the product of our hard work with all our friends and families at the Ippodromo della Capanelle in April!
Down Syndrome Theatre, has seen the participation of many teachers and students over the years and owes much to the support of now-retired faculty member, Ron Locilento. The group needs active, interested, willing members who will bring spirit and hard work into the company. If you want more information on what we do and what it feels like to be in Down Syndrome Theatre Group, ask one of the members (see our board right in front of the chapel's main entrance!)
